Dimensions Analytics MCP hosted server and API documentation updates
This release adds a hosted option for the Dimensions Analytics MCP and includes an update to the Dimensions Analytics API documentation.
Hosted server option for the Dimensions Analytics MCP
You can now connect to the Dimensions Analytics MCP through a hosted server at https://app.dimensions.ai/mcp instead of running it on your computer. There is no Node.js requirement and nothing to update on your side. You authenticate with the same API key you use for the Dimensions Analytics API.
The hosted server offers the same tools as the local server, except fetch_search_pages, which exports results to local files. If you use a custom instance of Dimensions, a hosted server is also available for it at https://<your-instance>.dimensions.ai/mcp.
The quick install command now offers the hosted server for Cursor, VS Code and Windsurf. The local server remains the default. You can also set up the hosted server manually in Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Codex CLI and other clients that support API key authentication. ChatGPT can’t connect to it yet, because it only supports sign-in based authentication for custom servers. Setup instructions are in the Dimensions Analytics MCP documentation.
Updated theme for the API documentation
The Dimensions Analytics API documentation has a new visual theme. The content, page addresses and navigation are unchanged.
